About Us

Colin Squire, the founder of Colin Squire Publishing, began his career in the Superyacht industry in 1978 as a deck hand onboard a 147 ft. motor yacht that was used constantly by the owner when not being chartered. This was then considered to be an exceptional vessel due to its size, there were very few vessels at the time that were longer. Prior to heading off to sea, he had never sailed before, he had previously had a successful sales career in print, working with two of Europe’s largest book manufacturing companies.

Within a year he had become the 1st officer of this vessel and had cruised extensively throughout Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, both East and West and had crossed the Atlantic to cruise throughout the Caribbean. The following years saw him moving to ever larger yachts as the industry exploded and working with the world’s top designers and yards on new builds, refits and refinishing projects. In 1985 he acquired his Captain's ticket and by the late 80’s was working as a Captain.

1990 was a decisive year in which he decided to head ashore where he launched Colin Squire Publishing, initially selling original yacht art and fine art prints to Captains and Owners. To promote this business he would travel around the marinas in the Mediterranean selling to friends and delivering his company brochures to yachts. From this, in 1994, the YachtFile ‘Information Direct’ pack was born. Colin Squire Publishing produces 6000 of these unique packs a year, containing hard copy company brochures, CD’s and newsletters for personal on-board delivery to thousands of different, professionally run yachts throughout the world. (Approx. 3,400,000 brochures delivered so far.)

In 2000, seeing a gap in the market, his complimentary, high quality magazine, Yachting Matters was conceived. This bi-annual publication has grown to become one of, if not the best, Superyacht magazine being published today and also, as he admits himself, it allows him to enjoy his love of photography. 2006 saw the launch of a second magazine, The Yacht Owner. Both of these high quality magazines are personally delivered onboard thousands of yachts annually, they are also distributed from his distribution racks set around the Monaco Yacht Show and a variety of other superyacht events, as well as being mailed to leading superyacht orientated companies.

The idea for was conceived during 1998, when his collection of marine domains began. It is only recently that the final domains to complete this unique jigsaw were purchased.

The concept behind this collection of 60 websites, comprising the best generic Superyacht names, is to find clients throughout the world for those that choose to embrace the concept that he has created, by using the internet in this unique way. He does not see this as a simple online directory which are almost two a penny on the internet, but more as an online yacht show, open not only to those finding the site through search engines but also through the private and professional Superyacht forums that he has also created, and this is just the beginning.

Karen Leggett, Assistant Editor

Karen, has worked for CSP since 2010 and coordinates just about every aspect of the business. From account management, to invoicing, to advertisement placement, and confirmations, there is little that Karen does not have a hand in. Karen’s background was in development and marketing for recruitment in the oil and gas industry and prior to that worked in IT and High Street recruitment.
Karen grew up in Holland and speaks Dutch, German and French in addition to her native tongue English.

Anne Spyropoulos, Sales & Marketing Consultant

Anne, a native New Yorker, joined CSP in 2015 to assist with ad sales, marketing and online development. Anne started her career in Silicon Valley in PR and Marketing for some of the emerging internet companies in the late 1990s and for the past 10 years has been dedicated to developing branding and marketing for a large yacht agent in the superyacht industry. She has an extensive knowledge of the market, particularly in Italy where she is based and is fluent in both Italian and English.
